Easy Tutorial: Christmas Centerpiece Using Eucalyptus

Bring some beauty to your Christmas table with this easy holiday centerpiece, perfect for your dinner table. You can use whatever greenery you have on hand (cedar or fir would also look great), but I love using eucalyptus to give a modern vibe to my Christmas decor.

This tutorial is super easy to follow, and after watching/reading, you’ll be able to DIY your own Christmas centerpiece, perfect for your holiday entertaining table!

Supplies I used:

Step 1: Soak The Floral Foam

I soak the foam by inserting it into a bucket of water (or in my sink), and let the foam sink naturally, it’s super important you don’t force it down and let it uptake the water at it’s own pace. If you force it, you’ll cause air pockets to form, which won’t contain water.

Step 2: Insert Candle into Candle Holder

If you put the candle directly into the foam, it has a tendency to wiggle, so it won’t be stable – which isn’t great for fire safety! These nifty holders keep the candle firmly upright.

Step 3: Insert Silver Dollar Eucalyptus

The silver dollar eucalyptus is a “tree-like” branch, so you’ll need to use your pruners to cut the eucalyptus into smaller sizes more appropriate for the centerpiece. (scissors aren’t sharp enough to cut the woody stems)

Step 4: Add in Seeded Eucalyptus and Eryngium

Once you’ve filled in the centerpiece with as much silver dollar eucalyptus as you’d like (aim to cover 90% of the foam), you’ll add in seeded eucalyptus to cover the remaining empty space and also add in eryngium for texture.

Step 5: Insert Candles and Enjoy!

Once you have the desired composition of silver dollar eucalyptus, seeded eucalyptus, and eryngium… add in your candles, and voila! You’re done! I would add in water to the vessel every few days so that the foam stayed hydrated, and that way this Christmas centerpiece will easily last you a few weeks, eucalyptus and eryngium are super hardy greens, and they also look really nice when they dry… so they’re a perfect choice for an arrangement like this.
