With my sons 1st birthday coming up, I knew I wanted to plan something “extra” that was full of flowers, food, and fun…and had a tie into my early years where I spent numerous hours horseback, and competing in amateur rodeos. I chose the theme of “Austin’s First Rodeo” and created a chic and sophisticated party full of delightful touches. The decor included real bull riding gear, from Austin’s grandpa, who was a rodeo star back in the 1970’s.
For the flowers, I went with neutrals (from quicksand roses and astrantia) with pops of burgundy (from scabiosa and smoke bush), peach (from apricot lisianthus) and corals (from dahlias). I also incorporated some dried elements, using dried bunny tails. I chose to incorporate florals in a number of different sizes and shapes, with some small arrangements, some larger ones, and then a wall hanging piece framing the bucking bull art.
I went all out with so many details in the party and so many special design elements, which included:
- Beautiful flowers all about
- Charcuterie “grazing” table
- Balloon garland (in the “earth” color scheme)
- Bucking bull wall art, created by Austin’s grandpa
- Delicious cake, adorned with art of a bucking bull
- Custom made sugar cookies
- Custom pretzels, created to look like cowboy hats
- “Watering Hole” full of beverages
- “Cowboy Coffee” grab bags
